Bolt Action and X-Wing

As a treat to myself at the end of the month I’m going to buy the starter boxes for these two games.

Bolt Action by Warlord Games and Star Wars: X-Wing by Fantasy Flight Games, even though I still really enjoy WH40K and Fantasy I want to branch out a bit and these two starter boxes seem the perfect way to go. Both seem really good value and from what I’ve seen of them really good fun.

Star Wars: X-Wing by Fantasy Flight Games:

is a tactical ship-to-ship combat game in which players take control of powerful Rebel X-wings and nimble Imperial TIE fighters, facing them against each other in fast-paced space combat. Featuring stunningly detailed and painted miniatures, X-Wing recreates exciting Star Wars space combat throughout its several included scenarios. Select your crew, plan your maneuvers, and complete your mission!

The X-Wing starter set includes everything you need to begin your battles, such as scenarios, cards, and fully assembled and painted ships. What is more, X-Wings quick-to-learn ruleset establishes the foundation for a system that can be expanded with your favorite ships and characters from the Star Wars universe.

Bolt Action by Warlord Games:

Assault on Normandy is the starter set for Bolt Action from Warlord Games. This Boxed Set contains everything you need to get started recreating the battles of World War Two on the tabletop.

Pit your wits and your tactical know-how against an opponent with an easy to learn rules system which allows you to recreate the action from any theatre of war – from Winter in the depths of the Ardennes, to the shores of the Pacific, and the shattered ruins of Stalingrad.

With 40 plastic miniatures provided as well as terrain to fight over, 8 orders dice and of course the Bolt Action Rulebook, Assault on Normandy is a great starting point for anyone looking to try their hand at 28mm historical gaming.
